A romantic evening stroll
An immersive installation between romantic nature experience and big data.
A networked installation in a park: Plants equipped with sensors and wandering visitors, whose GPS position, spatial orientation and accompaniment are observed, together form an electronic soundscape that is generated individually on each visitor’s smartphone.
The sensors are connected using a ZigBee wireless mesh network, the visitors are logged into a wlan, using a custom built app running pd-patches for tracking and generating the soundscape.
The title is the first line of a poem by “Joseph Freiherr von Eichendorff (10 March 1788 – 26 November 1857), a Prussian poet, novelist, playwright, literary critic, translator, and anthologist. Eichendorff was one of the major writers and critics of Romanticism.” (Wikipedia)
The poem:
Schläft ein Lied in allen Dingen
die da träumen fort und fort,
und die Welt hebt an zu singen,
triffst du nur das Zauberwort.
